Repentance

Repentance

Repentance is not simply saying “I’m sorry” when we sin; it is a gracious invitation from God to come back to Him. When the Holy Spirit convicts our hearts, He helps us see our sin clearly—not to shame us, but to heal us. Sin separates us from the joy and freedom God desires for us, yet His kindness gently leads us to repentance. In that moment, we are faced with a choice: remain where we are or turn toward the loving God who calls us by name.

Turning away from sin

True repentance involves a deliberate turning away from sin and a wholehearted turning toward God. It reshapes our thoughts, softens our hearts, and aligns our will with His. For the believer, repentance is not a one-time event but a continual response to God’s sanctifying work in our lives. Each time we repent, we experience anew the grace of Christ—who has already paid the penalty for our sin—and we are reminded that God delights in restoring His children and leading them into lives of faithful obedience.

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness
